Some
people are unhappy with the shape or size of their calf, and
no amount of exercise has improved this.
THE OPERATION
The operation takes approximately 1 hour and is performed
under general anaesthetic with you lying on your front.
The incision is very discreet as it is made along the crease
line behind your knee; a pocket is formed below the existing
muscle to enable the implant to be inserted.
DAY OF SURGERY
• Leave all valuables at home.
• Remove all jewellery (except wedding rings these
will be taped).
• Remove all signs of make-up and nail varnish.
PRE-OPERATIVE INSTRUCTIONS
• Avoid cigarettes and all nicotine products 6 weeks
prior to surgery.
• Do not consume alcohol for 1 week before surgery.
• Do not take aspirin, ibuprofen or vitamin E, prior
to surgery as this may effect blood clotting.
POST -OPERATIVE
• A 1night hospital stay is required
• 2 weeks off work is recommended
• No driving for at least 2 week (It is recommended
that you check with your insurance company).
• The swelling and bruising will subside after a few
weeks.
• Dressings are removed after 1 week
RISKS
All surgical procedures carry certain risks and there
are limitations of what can be achieved. These will have
been discussed prior to surgery with the surgeon as this
is the best way to gain a clear insight into the procedure
and allow you to make an informed decision about your surgery.
