OTOPLASTY
(Prominent Ear Correction)
This is sometimes referred to as “Bat Ears”.
Some people who have prominent ears feel self conscious
and unhappy about their appearance especially children as
they can be teased in school.
THE
OPERATION
The
operation usually takes between 1-2 hours and can be performed
under local anaesthetic with sedation or general anaesthetic.
An over night stay is required with general anaesthetic.
The
incision lines are very discreet as they are made along
the crease line behind the ear to expose the cartilage.
This is reshaped or on occasions a small amount is removed.
The sutures used are dissolvable.

RISKS

surgical procedures carry certain risks and there are limitations
of what can be achieved. These will have been discussed
prior to surgery with the surgeon as this is the best way
to gain a clear insight into the procedure and allow you
to make an informed decision about your surgery.
