Mr. Foat Qualified in 1979 from the University of Liverpool and commenced his career in Gynaecology in 1980. In 1984 he became a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and in 1987 was awarded a Master Degree in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with Distinction from the University of Liverpool. He was appointed as a consultant in 1990 and appears on the Specialist Register of the General Medical Council. In 1997 he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

His main areas of expertise are Pelvic floor surgery, the Menopause and minimal access (Keyhole) surgery.

He is involved in the teaching of trainee gynaecologists and has been an examiner for both the Diploma and Membership examinations for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
