Scar Revision

Scars vary in appearance, size and their impact on the patient. While scar revision cannot make the scar disappear, it is possible to improve its appearance and correct any contour deformities.

  • Simple Scars - wide/red/lumpy
  • Complex Scars - Scar with associated deformity of surrounding tissue/ Keloids.
  • Scars with tissue loss (Dents) - After trauma or surgery (eg: breast cancer excision, orthopaedic surgery)
  •

    Options for treatment

  • Silicone application
  • Steroid injections
  • Pressure treatment
  • Surgical revision
  • Tattooing
  •

Correction of contour deformity with fillers eg: Patient's own fat to fill the defect.

Accidents, surgery or certain diseases can leave areas of contour deformity on the body. Such deformities can be corrected by using the patient's own fat.

Since the term "scar" can encompass a wide range of presentations, it is important to consult a Plastic surgeon for assessment of the defect and advice on most appropriate mode of treatment.
