Introduction to Thermage for Body
Body by Thermage is a non-surgical method of skin tightening and contouring. It’s a non-invasive procedure that involves no downtime and can deliver results lasting two years. Thermage™ CPT uses the latest patented, FDA approved radiofrequency (RF) technology to powerfully stimulate collagen by delivering heat deep into the skin. That heat rejuvenates the area’s existing collagen and stimulates the body’s production of new collagen.
Who is suitable?
Many of our patients come to us as they are unhappy with loose, wrinkled or unsculpted skin. This procedure is perfect for those who would like minimal downtime and fantastic results without undergoing surgery. Women who are left with small areas of loose or wrinkled skin after pregnancy are ideally suited for this procedure.
The procedure and risks
Body by Thermage works by cooling the desired area before applying heat. This heat then stimulates the tightening of collagen strands under the skin whilst also stimulating the production of new collagen by the body. As a reduction in collagen is one of the main effects of ageing, this procedure helps to reverse that effect. Here at Sthetix, we offer a personalised Thermage treatment plan tailored to your individual concerns and problem areas. A single treatment can last up to two years and below is a list of commonly targeted areas:
- Tightening skin on the decolletage
- Tightening skin on the abdomen area after childbirth
- Tightening and contouring buttocks and the thigh area
Thermage is quite a safe treatment however, there are several potential risks. Patients most commonly experience swelling and redness in the treatment area but they usually disappear within a few hours. However in extreme cases, this can last a few weeks. Other potential side effects include bruising, tingling, soreness, a burning sensation and surface irregularity in the treatment area.
