Thermage works by cooling the desired area before applying heat. This heat then stimulates the tightening of collagen strands in the area whilst also stimulating the production of new collagen by the body. As a reduction in collagen is one of the main effects of ageing, this procedure helps to reverse that effect. Risks*

Thermage is quite a safe treatment however, there are several potential risks. Patients most commonly experience swelling and redness in the treatment area but they usually disappear within a few hours. However, in extreme cases, this can last a few weeks. Other potential side effects can include: bruising, tingling, soreness, a burning sensation and extremely rarely, surface irregularity in the treatment area.
